Ayanda Nxumalo's 'Camdeboo' has captivated audiences with its engaging plot inspired by the legendary Sarah Baartman. The play delves into the story and significance of Sarah Baartman, a prominent 19th-century figure representing the objectification and exploitation of women.

The production was recently selected to perform at at the National Arts Festival Makhanda, in partnership with The Playhouse Company, running from the 25th to 29th of June and it received incredible audience feedback. ”Camdeebo” derives from Baartman’s homeland in Eastern Cape . The play not only sheds light on historical issues but also resonates with contemporary struggles, making it a deeply relevant story in South Africa today.
